Date: June 26, 2006

The National Park Service (NPS) announces the release of the Interim Visitor Center Plan Environmental Assessment/Assessment of Effect (EA) to the public for review and comments.

NPS is proposing to remove the observation room and interpretative patio from the visitor center at Little Bighorn Battlefield N.M. in order to facilitate the construction of an all weather multipurpose room on top of the same foot print.  In conjunction with the release of the EA, NPS will host two public meetings.  The first meeting will be held on July 11, 2006 at the Sheraton Billings Hotel from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The second meeting will be held on July 13, 2006 at the Little Bighorn Battlefield N.M. Administration Building from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. During this time, the public is welcome to stop by and pick up a copy of the EA and ask questions.  No presentations are scheduled at the public meetings.

Electronic copy is also available on this same website under Management Docs or you may call Little Bighorn Battlefield N.M. at (406) 638-3204 and request a copy.  The EA will be on public review for 30 days and the public can mail their comments to the Superintendent or post comments online at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/LIBI --
