Friends Summer Events CANCELED
June 26-27, 2020
144st Anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn
Dear Friends members:
Due to the COVID-19 public health crisis, we have important updates to
share regarding the Friends summer events scheduled for Friday, 6/26/20
and Saturday, 6/27/20.
Safety is of paramount importance to us. At this time, the federal
government has advised against all unnecessary travel, and no
congregations of more than 10 people. Many states have enacted measures to
close public spaces, including restaurants, bars, theaters, and gyms.
Travel restrictions to/from Europe are in place for the next month, and
domestic travel restrictions appear to be imminent. I know that many of
you have made plans or are in the process of planning to participate in
the Friends summer events. In light of recent circumstances, the Friends
board has made an emergency decision with respect to the Friends summer
events:
- The 2020 General Membership meeting and Friends Feast is CANCELED.
- The Friends Field Trip event is CANCELED.
At this time, volunteers will be permitted to work the trails, contingent
on the park’s guidelines for safe practices. June might seem far away, but
we would rather take action now.
If you intend to travel to the park, please do so at your own
discretion.
Please note that, because this situation remains extremely fluid, we must
defer all final decisions to the park’s administration.
Further updates from the park will be shared as they are released.
I wish everyone good health – stay well!
Sincerely,
Ryan Trainor
President
