Friends Donates $5,000 For Custer National Cemetery Waysides & Garrison FlagJune 2011Friends partnered with LIBI by donating
$5,000 for the production of new waysides to replace the two in the Custer
National Cemetery. The original waysides used outdated language and were
not inclusive of the Vietnam War. The new waysides are porcelain enamel in
cantilevered bases to match other waysides throughout the Monument.
Friends Donates $3,900 For Little Bighorn BattlefieldFebruary 2011Our contribution of $3,950.00 supports three divisions within the Monument: 1) Convert manual library card catalog to electronic digital format, for the White Swan Memorial Library, that will be made available to the public. 2) Produce and print at least 5000 copies of Potential Invaders (weeds) flier with photos as part of Little Bighorn's Early Detection Rapid Response (EDRR) strategy for invasive plants. 3) Purchase of curatorial supplies to properly store the Elizabeth Bacon Custer collection at the NPS Western Archeological Conservation Center in Tucson, Arizona.
